Two weeks ago, the Current’s resident beer reviewer Travis E. Poling let you know about the Rally For Texas Beer Freedom happening this Friday, February 25 at Main Plaza (115 N Main Street) in front of San Fernando Cathedral. You can check out Travis’ full Bottle & Tap column from the February 16-22 issue here. By now, most of you know that HB 660, if passed, will allow you to buy beer produced by brewpubs at your neighborhood restaurant, bar, and/or grocery store. The Current’s thirsty, and we’re ready to fight for our right to drink delicious Texas beers (like Freetail’s Buffalo Hump 1840 IPA or Blue Star Brewery’s Smoke Dark Ale) wherever and whenever we want to! Additional details about the rally have emerged since Travis published his column, however, so we’re here to bring you up to speed. As previously mentioned, San Antonio Representative Mike Villarreal will speak about HB 660 and its importance to Texas’ craft beer industry. In addition, those participating in the rally can sample beer made at neighboring Texas brewpubs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and enjoy free music by Michael Martin & The Infidels from 7-10 p.m. Don’t miss it!
